As much as we like to cook at home, we do enjoy a date night out at least a couple times a month. One of the more frequent questions we get is what are our favorite spots in Dallas. We have so many favorite spots, but decided to pick out 10 restaurants that we truly love for a more romantic night out. These are in no particular order! We’d love to hear your favorite spots – we love trying out new places. Share below!
- Rise No. 1 – This was one of our very first dates in Dallas and has always held a special place in our hearts. We even took our engagement photos here, we love it so much! Highlights include the rolling cheese cart you can select your own cheeses from, the “Marshmallow” Soup, which is actually a tomato-basil soup with mini cheese souffles, the duck a l’orange souffle (seasonal), the violet souffle (off the menu, but ask for it!), and the strawberry souffle (seasonal).
- Lucia – You’ll have to plan ahead to get a reservation here, but it’s so worth it. Definitely one of Dallas’ more authentic traditional Italian restaurants. It’s small, cozy, and quiet, perfect for date night. Plus, it’s in the Bishop Arts District, one of our favorite areas in Dallas to window shop and walk around. Highlights include any of their pasta dishes, the antipasti tasting board, and the foie gras stuffed prunes.
- Local – This restaurant has been around for ages, but often gets left out of Dallas’ best lists. It’s classic, upscale cuisine with all local ingredients that changes with the seasons. We’ve been on multiple occasions and never had anything but a spectacular experience. Their chef’s tasting menu is $70, but promise you’ll leave SO full. Highlights include the burger (SO good), the tator tots, the cheeseboard, which always changes, but is always creative, and any of the ever-changing fish entrees!
- Tei-An – Hands down, Tei An is the best Japanese restaurant in Dallas, maybe even in Texas. Sounds like a bold statement, but trust us! Great selection of higher-priced menu items like Wagyu beef, Uni risotto, and of course, plenty of fresh sashimi, but also features several reasonably priced dishes like the traditional Tonkatsu ramen. Every meal we’ve shared here has been incredible, but highlights include – shrimp tempura, white seaweed salad, Tonkatsu ramen, the Wagyu hot stone, any of the fresh sashimi, and the soba ice cream with black honey for dessert.
- Bullion – This is probably our favorite restaurant in Dallas right now. We love everything Chef Bruno Davaillon has achieved with this upscale French brasserie. With beautiful views of downtown, spectacular decor, an impeccably executed menu, and an extensive wine list, it’s got all the hallmarks of a great date night restaurant, especially for a special occasion or celebration. Highlights include – the foie gras torchon, cheese board (have you noticed we like cheeseboards), the french fries (which I am pretty sure are double fried – SO good), the duck, and the mille-feuille dessert!
- Montlake Cut – In a city full of steakhouses, this New England style seafood restaurant shines bright. We had some of the best service in all of Dallas here. I loved that they served goldfish crackers on the table before taking orders. All of the fish is brought in fresh, and they have a great variety of menu items and preparations. Highlights included the whole roasted fish, the scallops, the fresh pasta of the day (which featured king crab and pesto at the time we went), the crispy gulf shrimp, and the rum cake for dessert (heavenly!).
- Saint Rocco’s – The restaurants in the Trinity Groves area tend to come and go, but Saint Rocco’s has been going steady since that area opened, and for good reason! We went on their opening night and were so impressed, we’ve been going back regularly ever since. This is NY Italian at it’s best. Prices are reasonable, and they have an amazing rooftop patio with a great view of Downtown Dallas. Highlights include the house zucchini chips (like crack), the antipasto board or burrata board, the chicken parm, the Sicilian lasagna, and the sausage Cavatappi.
- Uchi – We had heard amazing things about Uchi from our friends in Austin, so we were incredibly excited when we heard we were getting a location in Dallas. It definitely stands out as one of the more creative sushi restaurants in Dallas. We love that we can order several small plates and share and the tasting menu is so reasonable (only $100/couple last time we went). Highlights include the Brussels sprouts, the machi cure, the foie gras sushi, and the fried milk dessert.
- Bob’s Steakhouse – We couldn’t finish out our Dallas Date Night list without including at least one steakhouse! Dallas is home to so many classic steakhouses, and honestly you couldn’t go wrong with any of them, but we prefer the original Bob’s steakhouse when we have to pick. The steaks are always cooked to perfection and we so appreciate that the prices include your sides, as most other steakhouses force you to order sides a la carte, quickly racking up your bill. The highlights include the onion rings, the shrimp cocktail, the skillet potatoes side, any of their steaks (we’re partial to the ribeye), and the brownie sundae.
- Neighborhood Services – A Dallas classic, NHS serves upscale American dishes and amazing cocktails. They have a little bit of everything, so it’s perfect when you and your partner can’t decide what you want! And they have a great whiskey selection, if you are a whiskey person. They have different specials every night of the week. I highly recommend you go on a Friday or Saturday and try the “Angrier Lobster”. Highlights include the above mentioned lobster, the meatball appetizer with “voodoo sauce”, the scallops, and the burger.
