The Ultimate Disneyland Paris One-Day Itinerary: How to Maximize the Magic (and Skip the Stress!)

Thinking about doing Disneyland Paris in just one day? You might be wondering if it’s actually worth the rush, especially if you have little ones in tow.

We recently spent a day tackling both Disneyland Park and Walt Disney Studios with our 3-year-old, Mila. While doing Disney in a day is exhausting, it is entirely doable with the right strategy. By staying in central Paris for the first couple of days to adjust to the time change, we were fresh, energized, and ready to take on the parks.

Here is our exact timeline, the logistics you need to know, what to ride, and the costly mistakes we made so you don’t have to!

Crucial First Step: Disneyland Paris no longer sells tickets at the gate. You must purchase dated tickets in advance. To secure your spot and skip the massive entrance lines, we highly recommend booking your tickets ahead of time.

The Logistics: How to Get from Paris to Disneyland

The easiest and cheapest way to get to the park gates is via the RER A train from central Paris (we caught it at Châtelet les Halles) straight to the Marne-la-Vallée–Chessy station, which is right at the entrance of Disney. The ride takes just 45–50 minutes.

The Transit Pass Trick

If you plan on using public transit throughout your trip, purchase a multi-day Paris city train/subway pass (Paris Visite) that covers Zones 1–5. This pass includes your round-trip train ride to Disney, saving you from buying separate tickets! (Bonus – also includes train to Versailles if you plan to visit there too).

Learn From Our Mistake: Have a Backup Plan

On the morning of our trip, a fire disrupted the RER A line. While there is a dedicated bus that picks up at several locations in Paris of the stations, you must pre-reserve a spot—which we hadn’t done. To save the day and avoid missing the morning hours, we opted for a pricey Uber. Thankfully, it got us there quickly, and we took the train back in the evening with zero issues.

• The Lesson: Check the train apps first thing in the morning, and keep rideshare apps downloaded as a backup!

The One-Day Game Plan: Our Exact Timeline

• 9:00 AM – Arrival: The parks officially open at 9:30 AM during the summer, but they often start letting people through the gates around 9:00 AM. Arrive early to optimize those lower-wait morning hours!

• 9:30 AM – 1:30 PM – Disneyland Park (The Rides): We hit the ground running, checking active wait times on the Disneyland Paris app.

• 1:30 PM – 4:30 PM – Walt Disney Studios & Naptime: We hopped over to the second park. While Mila took a solid stroller nap, the adults traded off doing the Ratatouille experience, caught a cool live Marvel show, and explored the Pixar areas.

• 5:00 PM – The Main Park Return: Headed back to Main Street to claim a spot.

• 5:45 PM – The Disney Parade: The ultimate highlight of the day!

• 6:30 PM – 7:00 PM – Souvenirs & Train Back: Grabbed some new princess accessories on Main Street and headed to the RER A train to get back to Paris before it got too late.

What to Ride, See, and Skip (Toddler Edition)

Navigating the rides with a 3-year-old is all about managing expectations and wait times.

The Big Hits (Our Daughter’s Favorites)

• Fantasyland: Mad Hatter’s Tea Cups (Bonus: these are covered, making them the perfect ride to escape a brief summer rain shower!), Dumbo the Flying Elephant, Sleeping Beauty’s Castle, and Alice’s Curious Labyrinth.

• Adventureland: Aladdin’s Magic Carpet Ride.

• Throughout the Parks: It’s a Small World, the Le Pays des Contes de Fées (Storybook Land Canal Boats), and a character meet-and-greet with Goofy!

The “Hard Skips” & Warnings

• Peter Pan’s Flight: The lines for this were incredibly long the entire day, and we never got to ride it. Pro-tip: If this is a must-do for your family, head here the absolute second the gates open!

• Snow White & Pinocchio: We took Mila on the Snow White’s Carriage Ride and Pinocchio’s Carriage Ride, but they actually ended up being a little too dark and scary for her. Skip these if your toddler spooks easily.

• Long Shows: Because we only had one day, we intentionally skipped most of the longer, seated shows to optimize ride times.

Top Pro-Tips for a Smooth Day

1. Pre-Order Food on the App: Do not waste precious park time waiting in long lunch lines. You can mobile-order food at select restaurants directly through the Disneyland Paris app.

2. Beat the Heat with Mickey: The Mickey Mouse-shaped ice creams were a massive hit for cooling off during the summer heat.

3. Stroller Naps are a Lifesaver: Don’t head back to the hotel for a nap. Let them sleep in the stroller while the adults check out the more adult-friendly areas, like Walt Disney Studios or Marvel Avengers Campus.

4. Is One Day Enough? For us, one day was the perfect way to keep costs down by avoiding pricey on-property Disney hotels and multiple days of park passes. However, if you have an extra day and want a slower pace, staying overnight is a great option for families with young kids.
